The Department of  Soil, Water, and Climate  at the University of Minnesota has established an annual lecture series dealing with topics related to Emerging Issues in Soil and Water.  The purpose of the series is  to educate our students, faculty, and the public in this area of interest.

Among the principal concerns for the 21st century are food security, global sustainability, and environmental quality.  Dynamic and innovative research addressing emerging issues in soil and water will be critical for society to addresses these concerns.  This lecture series provides a forum to explore emerging issues, to inspire creative thinking, and to recognize excellence
