R e a d i n g

There is no textbook that provides adequate coverage of the majority of topics in these courses. Instead, each module listed in the schedule will have its own separate reference material (book chapter, papers, articles, etc.) and these will be available on electronic reserve (http://www.lib.umn.edu/borrowing/reserves.phtml). Web-based information is also available for most topic areas. Click on the underlined topic in the schedule to go straight to the web material. We intend that these notes be of use to you after you have finished the course. The books listed below are good background reference materials. During the course they will be on reserve in the Plant Pathology library as reference materials:

  • Tate, R.L. (2000). Soil Microbiology 2nd Edition. John Wiley and Sons.
  • Sylvia et al., [Eds.] (1998) Principles and applications of soil microbiology. Prentice Hall.

Additional reading materials will also be assigned in class.
